A Consulting Firm That Knows Why You Hate Consultants

Our CEO spent years inside one of the largest consulting firms in the world. She watched teams produce reports nobody read, run meetings that solved nothing, and charge for the privilege. She has also owned a small family remodeling business that she had to close due to market changes and under-capitalization and knows how traumatic that can be. Beatitudo Consulting exists because she thinks business owners deserve better than what this industry has been giving them.

The Short Version

Something is happening in your business that you cannot solve alone, or something should be happening and it is not. You do not have the time, the resources, or the outside perspective to address it. And the people around you, your partners, your spouse, your team, all have too much at stake to give you an honest answer. You need someone who will.

Why This Firm Exists

Most business owners who need outside help have probably already decided they do not trust consultants or cannot afford them. They have heard the stories or lived them firsthand: the jargon, the inflated invoices, the six-month engagement that produced a binder and no results. They are not wrong to be skeptical.

Our CEO built Beatitudo to be the firm she wished existed when she and her spouse were running their remodeling company. They grew too fast without enough capital, and when the 2008 housing crash hit, they could not make payroll.  She knows how hard running a company really is, and how stressful. She figured it out the hard way, and that experience shaped everything about how she works with clients today.

Meet Michelle L. Bliss

Michelle is the kind of consultant who listens. She has operated on both sides of the table, inside Big4 consulting and inside her own small business where she was doing the design work, the sales, the accounts receivable, and the accounts payable all at the same time. She gets it, and she has a deep bench of people that she respects who get it too.

Where She Has Been

Enterprise consulting at Deloitte

Worked with state, local, federal, higher education, and corporate clients to build training and upskilling programs supporting large-scale software migrations. Designed data governance training and policy for senior leadership and legal counsel. Led seminars on hiring for small non-profits and entrepreneurs.

Government training and workforce development

Training Manager for Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, where she designed a four-year training program for civil engineers and coordinated campus recruitment efforts nationwide. Designer and facilitator for the Project Management Summit, bringing together consultants and clients to learn how they each approach the same problems.

Small business ownership

Co-owned a residential remodeling firm. Managed subcontractors, created estimates, sourced materials, and ran multiple project plans simultaneously. Learned firsthand what happens when a business grows faster than its infrastructure can support, and how quickly external political and economic upheaval can tank the best laid business plans.

Higher education

Instructor in the Political Science Department at the University of Memphis. Program manager for the undergraduate Mock Trial Team. Academic advisor for the department. May use her “professor voice” on a client at any given moment if she thinks they are not paying attention.

Political advocacy

Seven years as Public Policy Chair for the Tennessee Equality Project. Consulting on LGBT policy issues and fundraising for campaigns. Experienced in 501c3 and 504 non-profit boards. Organized large-scale public events and private fundraisers.

Casino Operations

Former casino supervisor who opened multiple properties across the Southern United States, managing large-scale recruiting, staffing, and onboarding operations. Still deals a mean game of craps or blackjack. Gained a great deal of customer service and conflict management experience catering to sometimes difficult customers.

The Network Behind the Work

Michelle does not pretend to be an expert in every industry. She does not have to be. Her career across Deloitte, government, higher education, and small business ownership has built a professional network that spans industries, government at every level, and specialized disciplines including HR, IT, project management, organizational change, and learning and development. When a client’s situation calls for expertise outside her background, she knows exactly who to call. Not a generalist. Not a junior associate. The specific subject matter expert the problem requires.

Based in Baltimore. Not Limited by It.

Beatitudo Consulting operates from Baltimore, Maryland and serves clients nationwide. Industry and geography do not limit the work. If you have been in business for three or more years and you have reached a point where you cannot do everything yourself, you are the right client regardless of where you are or what your business does.

How Beatitudo Is Different

No stake in your decisions

Michelle has no emotional or financial investment in what you decide. That means you get honest answers, not the ones your partners, your spouse, or your team are comfortable giving you.

Real business ownership experience

She has not just advised businesses. She has run one, struggled with one, and learned from the experience in ways that show up in every client conversation.

No upselling

The engagement is scoped to solve your problem. When the work is done, the engagement ends. There is no pitch for the next project hiding behind the current one.

No jargon

If a recommendation cannot be stated in plain language, it is not a useful recommendation. Every deliverable is clear, direct, and built for business owners who do not have time to decode consultant speak.
